The Core Principles To Losing Those Extra Pounds

While in the past our ancestors seldom had to deal with the problem of obesity, these days it is becoming more and more of a rampant epidemic, taking over many nations by storm in the form of cheap junk food and sedentary lifestyles. Needless to say, losing weight has become a big concern for many people, with the worst part being that the so-called healthy and natural way only helps to lose one to two pounds per week, something for which most of us do not have the time for. The good news is that it is possible to accelerate the process, and so here are a few tips for how to lose a pound a day.

#1 – Learn All About Your Calories

To be all technical for a minute, it is necessary to understand the most basic, core principle of weight loss: burning more calories than you are consuming. Regardless of how you look at the problem, when you eat food you also ingest a certain number of calories, most which then get converted into fat to be stored in your body to be used on another day. Speaking from an evolutionary perspective, this process is quite a handy survival tool… however, in order to lose weight you will need to control it.

How do we do that? Well, it starts by counting your calories. This means that you need to know the caloric content of everything that goes into your mouth. In addition to counting the calories you take in, you also need to track the amount of calories you burn. #2 – Prioritize Fruits and Vegetables in your Diet

Whether you like them or not, vegetables are extremely healthy sources for an unbelievably large number of nutrients, many of which are essential to the human body. And a huge bonus it that  vegetables happen to have a very low caloric content (if you decide to put any sauce or dressing on them, ya gotta count it separately), meaning you can eat a lot of them without putting your diet in jeopardy. In every meal that you have, make sure that at least two-thirds to three quarters of your plate consists of some kind of vegetables in healthy format. As for fruit, it is so jam packed with essential vitamins and mineral that just aren’t found in other foods. Plus they are made up of water, some melons 95% water! This is a great way to fill yourself up quickly. Fruit is the perfect snack! I could go on and on about their antioxidants, fiber, but I won’t. They are all good for you! So get going and start loving your fruits and veggies!

#3 – Take a Moment to Relax Every Day

While the existence of a connection between the mind and the body has been suspected for a long time, it has become even more evident relatively recently through a number of ground-breaking experiments. It’s something real and should be taken seriously. There exists a real relation between one’s stress levels and the body’s ability to lose fat. When one is stressed out, the body tends to release certain hormones which drastically slow down your body’s ability to drop the pounds. Simply take the time to invest yourself in any kind of relaxing activity at least once per day, whether it’s soaking in a hot tub for an hour, reading a chapter of Sherlock Holmes, or crashing in front of the television and catching up on your TV shows.
